Berkeley Beer Club — Privacy Policy

The Berkeley Beer Club is operated by Dog Haus Biergarten Berkeley. This policy covers the Beer Club membership programme, the Berkeley Beer Club iOS app, the member check-in web page, and the Apple Wallet pass. Membership is limited to people aged 21 or over.

What we collect

Data	Why
Name	To identify you as a member at the bar.
Mobile phone number	It is how you sign in, how we verify your membership, and how we send you membership texts.
Email address	Verification and membership communication.
Visit and points history	To award and track your punches and rewards.
Device identifier and session token	To keep you signed in and to enforce one membership per phone.
IP address (temporarily)	Rate limiting, to stop abuse of the sign-in and sign-up flows.

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any payment card details. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party trackers.

How we use it

• To run your membership: verifying you, recording punches, and issuing rewards.
• To send you membership messages — verification codes, point updates, and offers — by SMS, email, and Apple Wallet pass updates. Text message consent is described in the Terms & Conditions; reply STOP to opt out.
• To protect the programme from sharing and abuse.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers purely to operate the programme:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, email delivery (SES) and text message delivery (SNS).
• Apple — if you add the Apple Wallet pass, Apple's PassKit service delivers pass updates to your device.
• Cloudflare — serves and protects our website.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

How long we keep it

• Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member.
• Sign-ups that are never verified and have no activity are deleted automatically about 30 days after we ask you to verify.
• One-time codes and rate-limiting records are short-lived and pruned automatically.

Your choices

• Delete your account — in the app, open Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your membership, points and visit history. You can also ask any staff member.
• Stop texts — reply STOP to any message. Note this deactivates member pricing, as described in the Terms.
• Correct your details — change your email or phone number in the app under Account.
• Request a copy of your data — contact us using the details below.

If you are a California resident, you may request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information.

Age and date of birth

The Beer Club is a 21-and-over programme. When you join — in the app or on the web — you are asked for your date of birth so we can check you are old enough.

We do not keep it. Your date of birth is used to work out whether you are 21 or over and is then discarded: it is not written to our database, and it does not appear in the table above because we do not store it. In the app the check happens on your phone and the date is never sent to us at all.

The programme is not directed at children and we do not knowingly hold information about anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.

Security

Connections are encrypted in transit. Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only in hashed form, never in the clear. Your membership is bound to a single device, and signing in on a new phone signs the old one out and notifies you by text and email.
